Hunger doesn't take a Holiday

As I sit in my warm and cozy house looking out at a snowy, wintery scene, I am reminded of how lucky I am. I have a roof over my head, a job to keep it there, and enough to be able to feed myself and my children. Many are not so lucky. So I stole the title of this post from the people at Red Nose Day. This organization is working hard to use their talents to make a dent in hunger and food insecurity. The site is a resource for finding ways you and your staff and communities can help in the struggle of food insecurity.

Red Nose Day is in March, but this year as we work in unprecedented times remember to keep all your kids and their families in the forefront of your minds. I know you will because it is what we do as 'lunch ladies and food dudes'. We can encourage others to help as well. Have a food drive, even during a pandemic, gift cards (that can be sanitized before/after donating) are a great way for every one to pitch in locally. Your school's guidance/adjustment counselors can facilitate the donations directly to needy families.
